Her early successes in the arts of performing, and which are now known as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her for her place in the "child prodigy" category. However, for a child with Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family, those were not innate traits. Maureen joined this wonderful refuge in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was the mother of her. She was a accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen was a natural athlete and loved playing sporting games. This interest was combined with an unnatural talent for performing. In the end, she received almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances in her country of birth. At the age of 14, she was invited into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre along with operatic music.
