AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player is a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) which is the highest division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 until 2020 along with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. After graduating earlier from the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut there and was integral in the team's winning the league title. Morgan was 22 at the time and was the youngest member of the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. In the 123rd minute of the semifinal game against Canada during the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal. She finished 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists along with Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and provide 20 assists in the same calendar year and making her the sixth and the tiniest U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was the FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan also assisted in helping the United States win their titles in both the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
